They had a chance to take away the spotlight from Microsoft by focusing on the core audience but instead to try and strengthen a segment of their user base that is already their strong-suit. Nintendo needs to work on their weaknesses with the Wii and that weakness right now is their core user base. They're losing fans daily to the 360 and PS3 because fans see that Sony and Microsoft's platforms offer a wide variety of casual and hardcore titles for all demographics. Nintendo really dropped the ball on this one.
